The First Cut Is The Deepest - Mags Going to the Vet

Hi everyone! Hoping to get some purrs for Maggie May. She is going to the vet at 2:30 est for a possible abscess on her leg from the Maizy attack last week. Maggie seems perfectly fine, but there is definitely a palpable fluid-filled mass on her right hip area. I've tried the warm compresses and anti-inflammatories, but it will not go down. My guess is it will need to be lanced and drained. Poor Mags! While we're there, I'll be asking the vet what more I can be doing to ease the tension between the girls. Hopefully, he will have some good advice for me.

  5. We're sending big purrs along to help you feel better and hope your vet appointment goes well, Maggie May!

We had two fixed brother cats that used to fight all the time and they would get all scratched up. My mom used to treat the scratches with warm tea because it's a natural antiseptic and it avoided a lot of infections and vet trips. It seemed to really work well. I also used it on Deli when she had her URI and had itchy eyes...worked like a charm

  13. Me again regarding your question: Any tea with tannins are good (black tea, orange pekoe). Green and white teas are lacking in tannins, and that's the ingredient that is an antiseptic, so they don't work as well. The tea bag can be used as a compress. Just dip the bag in warm water and apply to the wound or eyes. It also works on humans if you ever had itchy or dry eyes! I use tea bags on my eyes when I get a cold or allergies and it feels great.

Hopefully the girls will stop fighting and you won't need to this tip!

  14. P.S.: We're not 100% sure but think that inflammations should be cooled, not treated with warm compresses. Please check, we don't want to worry you additionally.
    Healing purrs still coming!
